16 October 2026, Edinburgh: Earth Blox, the nature and climate risk software company, has appointed James d’Ath as a Non-Executive Director. He joins the board as banks and corporates prepare for nature-related information to become part of mainstream financial reporting.

James has worked across financial markets and sustainability for more than 30 years. In 2015 he founded ScoutMac in 2015, an advisory business working with financial institutions to integrate nature-related risks and opportunities into their decisions.

Most recently, as Technical Lead for Data and Analytics at the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), he supported the technical work behind the TNFD framework and co-chaired the Nature-related Data Catalyst. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Nature Bonds Initiative (NBI).

James has worked with Global Canopy as a Finance Sector Engagement Specialist and through the World Economic Forum’s Tropical Forest Alliance, he convened a working group of 15 investment banks on indirect exposure to deforestation, and he has advised UNEP FI on restoration finance.

“Banks, corporates and their advisers are being asked to assess nature-related risk, site by site and across whole portfolios. James has spent years working on exactly that challenge: what nature insights do organisations need to manage and mitigate risk, allocate capital and identify investment opportunities. His experience will sharpen the board’s view of where our customers’ requirements are heading as expectations on nature disclosure firm up,” said Iain McCready, Chief Executive Officer, Earth Blox.

Corporates and financial institutions increasingly use Earth Blox to see where nature and climate risks and opportunities concentrate across assets and supply chains and prioritise where to act. Recent work includes The Missing Line Item, a report published by Earth Blox in association with Lloyds Banking Group, which explores nature-related risk and estimates Nature Value at Risk at asset level for three corporates: a paper manufacturer, a data centre operator and a diversified industrial company. Canadian forestry company West Fraser and Pollination, a nature and climate focused investment and advisory firm, published a TNFD methodology for the forestry sector, built on Earth Blox.

“Disclosure frameworks set out what organisations should report. The harder part is producing location-specific evidence that is consistent across a portfolio and traceable to its source. Earth Blox has built its software around that problem, and I am joining the board to help the company meet the standard investors and regulators will expect,” said James d’Ath, Non-Executive Director, Earth Blox.

The news follows Iain McCready’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer in July 2026 and Earth Blox’s £6m funding round in March 2026.
